We are thrilled to be able to once be able to open Mary’s Garden to raise funds for The Hospice in The Weald – a fantastic facility that is very dear to our hearts.
For those of you that have visited before, things will be a little different this time round. We are mindful of keeping all of you, our local community and our loved ones safe, so as there will still be Covid 19 restrictions in place, we have had to make a few changes to the usual format.
When we have opened the garden in previous years, we have strived to create a feeling of a relaxed garden party, with sweet treats to munch on, tea and lemonade to refresh everyone and interesting craft and plant stalls to browse – as well as the thrill of potentially winning a wonderful raffle prize!
With plenty of seating for people to perch and appreciate the garden, in the past we have had 100s of visitors in the garden enjoying a lovely afternoon outing.
We plan to throw open the gate at
61 Lavender Hill Tonbridge TN9 2AU
on Saturday 29th May 2021
to welcome all-comers from
1pm until 5pm.
With restrictions still in place when we open this year, we are mindful that social distance still needs to be observed, so we may have to limit the number of people in the garden at any one time.
So. We have considered how we can still make this an enjoyable experience for all of our visitors, whilst ensuring everyone is safe.
Mary’s Garden is open 1pm – 5pm on Saturday 29th May. The entrance fee is £5 per person with children under 12 free of charge. Please note we can only accept cash for this event.
We would love it if you could make some time to come and help us support the invaluable Hospice in the Weald – hope to see you there!
Refreshments will still be served, but they will on our front garden.
This means you can grab a cup of tea on your way in, or, if you have to wait a few minutes because the garden is at capacity, you can enjoy a drink and a biscuit to while away the time.
The Hospice has asked us to help them raise extra funds with the sale of some crafts that their residents have made, and these will be on display in the front for you to peruse, as well as any raffle prizes that we have had donated.
If you have anything that you would like to donate for the raffle, we would be delighted!
We will ask for donations for refreshments; we plan to run the raffle and as I mentioned above, the Hospice have asked us to have some of their crafts for sale as well.
If you have any prizes to donate, we would be truly grateful – please let us know by return so we can organise a time for you to drop it off, or for us to collect.
Usually our garden is polished and presented to its absolute best – after all, it is on public show! However, this year we have decided to show the garden as we use it every single day.
You all know how passionate we are about your garden being an extension of your home – a place to live and make memories in with loved ones?
Well, we do practice what we preach! Mary’s Garden is just like any other garden – unruly and obstinate at times, somewhat scruffy around the edges, but full of life and bringing us joy every day.
We also have the added bonus of a little bit of Mary Mary magic sprinkled over our space…
We look forward to sharing our personal patch of the planet with you – we really hope you will visit, even if it isn’t quite the same as usual. Just like everything at the moment!
Mary’s Garden is at:
61 Lavender Hill Tonbridge TN9 2AU
Parking is very limited, so if you can at all avoid bringing your car, it will make your life easier! For those of you who need extra help either with a stick or wheels when getting around, there is a double yellow line directly outside our house, which can be used to drop off anyone who needs to be before going to find a suitable parking space.
There is often parking available on Pembury Road. We are a ten minute walk from Tonbridge Station or any of the Quarry Hill bus stops as well.
